A

Anonymous user - any person visiting your site who cannot login. Usually refers to the general public.

Attendance - a tool for tracking who was present at events. Requires an event to be created, and user to be invited to that event.

Authenticated user - any person with a user login, regardless of roles assigned to them.

Block - an item used to display information on dashboards, and on the public site. A "block" of content.

Body text - available on most pieces of content, it is a free-form field where descriptions and information can be added. Allows for embedding of videos, links, and images.

 

C

CKeditor - the technical name of the set of edit buttons that appear above the body text area. They allow you to change fonts, add images, create hyperlinks, etc.

Contact - a record for a person which includes info such as name and phone number. Cannot login to the site. 

Content - this is a general term use to describe all the stuff you can add to your site. This would include items such as music, events, and contacts.

Elfinder - the name of the module used to browse the files uploaded to your site. The "filer finder" or "files folder" of your site. Called "Files" in the menu.

Events - a type of content used to keep track of rehearsals, performances, meetings, social events, etc. Visible in agenda and calendar format. Can be used to track attendance when users are invited to attend.

Export - downloading content from the site usually into a file that can be saved to your personal computer/device.

Feature - a specific aspect of the site that allows you to complete certain tasks. Example: Music is a feature. Attendance is a feature.

Import - adding several entries of information to the site using a file (typically a csv)

Module - a technical term for a set of features related to a certain process performed in the site. Example: Music learning module refers to all settings and behaviors related to music learning.

Music - a type of content used to store sheet music, learning tracks and other related attachments. Linked to music learning records based on users being invited to learn a song.

Music learning - a system to track user progress on songs. Creates a music learning record that shows a log of statuses, and uploaded recordings.

Nesting - placing items in a list, with items "nested" within others. Also called "trees".  Used in organizing menu items, and documents. The top item is a "parent" and the items below it are "children".  This is not related to child and parent accounts used for children's choruses.

Node - a generic, technical term for a piece of content in the site. Every page is a "node".

Path - the location of a node. This is also the URL. 

Permissions - abilities assigned to roles that allow varying degrees of access and control over the site. These cannot be changed. Roles can be added and removed from users to mix and match capabilities.

Roles - a term used to identify pre-set permissions within the site. Roles use common terms in choir management (ex: member, director, etc). Each role has a set of permissions/capabilities with the site. These permissions cannot be edited. Named roles and feature roles are available to mix and match to create different levels of access for your users.

Taxonomy - changeable vocabulary within the site, used for organization. Taxonomy terms are often "categories".

User - a person with a login account for your site.

URL - uniform resource locator - the unique identifier of a file or node located online.
